Tips on Selecting The Best Web Hosting Service Provider

Not all web hosting services are created equal, which is why you need to do your due diligence to find the best and cheapest option for you in selecting the best hosting service provider. Whether you have your own website, a blog, or both, you will need to get a service that is right for you.

Here are some important considerations before you purchase a good hosting provider:

1. Web Databases

There are plenty of web databases out there, the likes of Microsoft SQL and MySQL are just some of them that you will need in the future.

Not all web hosting services provide such which is why you need to conduct research on the best and cheapest one you cannot find.

A web database has a variety of different functions, including the storage of proprietary company information, back-end storage services for your blog, and access to different database services, among others.

2. Transfer Volume

Also known as Bandwidth, this refers to how much data you send and receive in a given month. You need to contemplate on this based on the size of your business. Obviously, the larger the business, the better web hosting provider you need in order to meet your website’s bandwidth requirements.

Aside from the bandwidth they’re going to give you, it is also important to know if they have monitoring tools that will allow you to look at your bandwidth usage in real-time.

3. Windows or Linux Hosting

Most of the web service providers today make use of a Linux-based hosting server since it provides the best possible performance while being easy on the server itself. However, there are some websites that may need to use the Active Server Pages feature which is only available if a hosting provider uses a Microsoft Server.

For the most part, you can go with a Linux-based service, but you also have to look at your company’s needs as well. Perhaps Microsoft SQL would be more beneficial to your business than any other solutions.

4. Secure Shell (SSH)

Get a good hosting service that allows you to have SSH access. It is pretty convenient to make any command line changes at any time, but not all providers will give you this option, perhaps because your plan doesn’t include this feature.

It would be great if you look at all of the available options given to you and review what you can and cannot do when it comes to remote SSH access.

5. Website Plugins

When you go for a web hosting service, there are some that allow you to make use of certain scripts and plugins for maximum support and stability.

Website scripts and plugins are handy because they give you the freedom and the flexibility to add so many features to your website, aside from the existing elements already available on your page.

6. Disk Space

Different provides give you different storage permissions, especially with regards to how much data or disk space you’re going to get.

Obviously, the cheaper the plan, the lower the disk space you’re given. Again, only get what you need in terms of the need of your business or personal website.
