What Do You Do in the App Pre-Planning Stage?
The Pre-Planning Stage for Mobile Application Development
App development is usually done in many stages before you hire app developer. One of the most important aspects of app development is the pre-planning stage. This is where you will outline all of the app’s capabilities, which platform you’re going to create apps for, if the app is going to be native or cross-platform, among many other things.
If you do a good job in the pre-planning job, everything will be more streamlined from here on out. That is why it is important that you and your team focus your efforts in this stage of the development process to ensure that everything will be smooth sailing from the get-go.
That being said, how do you actually plan in this stage? Read on to find out some tips.
1. Discuss Your Application in a Nutshell
In this part of the process, you will give a brief summary of what your application does. This includes its core features, how the app will look like, and the features that you’re going to implement in the future.
2. What Does Your Target Audience Need?
At this point, you want to identify your target audience and the problems that they currently face. For instance, if you are going to develop an M-commerce app, what makes it better than others? Perhaps including an easy checkout process would be the key to make it more appealing to use than other similar applications.
3. Look at Similar Apps in the Niche and then Compare
For you to create a more robust application, you must also do your research and see what your competitors are doing. List down all of their features and then pick apart the ones that you feel should be consolidated in one app.
4. Hire People to Brainstorm with You
Another way to gain valuable insight is to hire creative people, particularly in the industry that you serve. Having not only like-minded individuals, but also people who have a very good outside perspective, can really help you get amazing app ideas that haven’t been implemented yet in other apps out there.
List down all of the app features on a piece of paper and then implement only some of them. You can safely add more features in the future, but for the time being, stick with at least 5 core features.
5. Create a Flowchart
Once you’ve brainstormed your app ideas, you can finally get into creating a flowchart or a wireframe.
This allows you to streamline the entire development process because people the team will know exactly what to do.
Make sure that you create a clear and concise flowchart that details everything that your team must know. That way, you are assured that everything will be smooth-sailing right from the get-go.
The Pre-planning stage in app development is one of the most important stages of the project. It is where an app idea is presented to the different team members and this is also the stage where you come up with a list of features that you want to be implemented in your mobile application.
